Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has revealed plans to bring his new production of Jesus Christ Superstar to Australia.
Lord Webber is about to tour his arena production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the UK and told Jonathan Ross that after the UK he plans to take it to the USA and Australia.
The new production of Jesus Christ Superstar stars Australian comedian Tim Minchin as Judas and Spice Girl Mel C as Mary Magdalene. Tim, Mel and co-star Ben Foster (Jesus) sang ‘Everythings Alright’ from the show on The Jonathan Ross Show this week and joined Lord Webber for the interview.
Lord Webber also revealed he doesn’t like being called “Lord”.
“Lord Lloyd Webber is extremely difficult to say,” he said. “I prefer to be called Andrew. The Lord bit is a waste of time”.
He also told Ross that he had a visit from The Queen at his house recently. “We played her the song that I wrote for the jubilee, with Gary Barlow, and she was staying with some friends down the road and they came over,” he said.
The new English production of Jesus Christ Superstar will open on September 21 at the O2 Arena in London.
