Brian Setzer’s guitar is about to get one of the most prestigious honors possible. The instrument is going into the Smithsonian Museum.
Setzer’s website announced the honor on Thursday, saying:
Brian is being honored for his contributions to American music! He will be receiving this tremendous honor on Oct 17. His guitar will be housed in the same museum as John Coltrane’s saxophone, Dizzy Gillespie’s trumpet, The Star-Spangled Banner Flag, Alexander Graham Bell’s telegraph, and Muhammad Ali’s gloves.
For over thirty years, Setzer has been one of the finest rock and rockabilly guitar players in the business. His work with the Stray Cats, his own Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a solo artists have preserved the rockabilly sound and brought it to the attention of a whole new audience.
No official announcement has been made on which of Brian’s many guitars will be donated to the museum.
