Australian film-Maker and actor John Polson has been named the recipient of the APRA AMCOS International Achievement Award.
Polson has worked as a director on ‘The Mentalist, The Good Wife, Without A Trace, Lie To Me, Blue Bloods and Fringe. He is currently the director and executive producer of the hit TV show Elementary.
“It is a huge honour to accept this award”, Polson said in a statement. “I am truly humbled to have the APRA AMCOS board of publisher and writer directors recognise my work this way”.
Polson’s first US film was ‘Swimfan’ (2002). By 2005, his third film ‘Hide and Seek’ starring Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning opening at number one at the box office in the USA.
John Polson is the founder of Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival.
The Sydney born actor scored his first major acting role playing opposite Russell Crowe and Jack Thompson in The Sum Of Us. For the record, Polson also plays a mean sax.
John Polson will receive the International Achievement Award at the 2013 Screen Music Awards at the State Theatre in Sydney on December 9.
