Nineties New York alt-rock gals Luscious Jackson reunite with a new song and an album on the way.

The band perfectly encapsulate the ‘90s, playing a mash up of alterna-rock, hip-hop and indie for exactly those ten years, releasing three albums on the Beastie Boys’ label Grand Royal.

Now Jill Cunniff, Gabby Glaser and Kate Schellenbach are back with a new song ‘Are You Ready?’ and are preparing their fourth studio album.

They’re streaming the tune on SoundCloud here and Cunniff says the song is a good example of their new material,

“It’ll have a range, but a fun, up-tempo, youth vibe. I think we’re both feeling that fun’s really important,” she said to CNN, “It’s definitely not like, oh, we’re adult contemporary now.”

They admit that they’re still in the early stages of a full album, but have mused about possible collaborations, including Cibo Matto, Ben Lee, and even Mike D of the Beastie Boys.
