Marc Martel, star of the Queen endorsed ‘The Ultimate Queen Celebration’, will be heard as part of Freddie Mercury’s vocals for Rami Malek’s performance as the Queen singer in the upcoming biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Marc was chosen as the Queen singer by Brian May and Roger Taylor for the Queen tribute Queen Extravaganza and now performs for The Ultimate Queen Celebration show.

“They hired me to do some of the singing in the movie and give the audience an immersive experience and not be able to tell where the singing is coming from. It is to make the audience believe they are really watching Freddie Mercury sing,” Marc tells Noise11.com. “I got to go to Abbey Road for a few weeks and do some recording there. It was the first time for me to see behind the curtain in the music industry. It was really fascinating fun and a very memorable experience”.

Marc laid down his vocals at Abbey Road before Malek started work as Freddie for the movie. “The way it works in movies the actor will perform their part based on the music. All of the music was prepared before shooting. It was fun, demanding, it could a little bit tedious at times but it was all very good and all very worth it”.

The music for the soundtrack will still be the original music of Queen, but with the mixed vocals. “Queen offered all of their original tracks to the movie,” he said. “The movie will be using a mixture of Freddie’s tracks and me and Rami. It will all be done in a way you can’t tell”.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ will be in cinemas on November 2, 2018.

Martel says he was somewhat of a celebrity by the time he got to meet Queen’s Taylor and May. “The early auditions were on video. I didn’t meet Roger until the third audition at the Foo Fighters studio in Los Angeles. It was a really wild day. It was very strange because I was already a minor celebrity in that world because my initial audience had gone viral around the world. It was something I wasn’t expecting. It threw my life into turmoil. It was the first time everyone who was competing for the part met and we all knew Roger Taylor and Jim Beach, the Queen manager, were going to show up at some point. I was a little older than some of the people in the competition. Roger was very easy going. It was really pleasant. I think he was just excited that day to see him dream come to fruition”.

It can’t help but be noticed that the two new Freddie Mercury replacements are both North America. Adam Lambert, who fronts the live band these days, is from Indianapolis, Martel is from Quebec in Canada. “That’s funny because Freddie used to sing often with an American accent. I think he had a flair for American bombast. I think it makes sense”.

Marc Martel will perform the songs of Queen in ‘The Ultimate Queen Celebration’ across Australia starting August 28.

Recently Mike Myers told his story of Bohemian Rhapsody.
