Songwriter Rosa Lee Watson, wife of the legendary Doc Watson, has died just 6 months after her husband of 66 years.
Rosa and Doc wrote ‘Your Long Journey’, a song covered by Robert Plant and Alison Kraus on the Grammy Award winning ‘Raising Sand’.
Rosa Lee had been in a nursing home for the past 18 months after suffering a series of strokes.
Rosa Lee and Doc Watson were the founders of Merlefest, an annual music event in North Carolina.
The Watson’s had two children, daughter Nancy Ellen Watson who lives in Deep Gap, North Carolina and Eddy Merle Watson, who died in 1985 at age 36.
Rosa Lee died on Thanksgiving, November 22, 2012.
