Solange Knowles is “working around the clock” to finish her highly anticipated new album.
Beyoncé Knowles’ younger sister launched her own record label back in May and announced last spring she would soon make her solo album debut under the new banner.
The 27-year-old DJ took to Twitter at the weekend to express her elation the project is near completion – and admitted she’s not getting any sleep until it’s finished.
“Have not slept in 4 days, working round the clock to turn in my first release on @SaintRecords,” she wrote.
Solange was signed by Columbia Records at the beginning of her solo career.
She released her debut album, Solo Star, back in 2003 through the label and followed up with 2008’s Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, released by Geffen.
Her contract with Interscope expired in 2009 and last year she released an extended play album, True, through Terrible Records.
By last May it appeared she had tired of the label hopping and had announced her new venture, Saint Records, along with a distribution deal with Sony.
“Super stoked to announce I’ve started my own label,SAINT RECORDS,where I’ll be releasing my music & other projects distributed through SONY!,” she gushed, adding, “It is through SAINT RECORDS that I will be releasing my full length album, and also future music projects that I’m excited about sharing!”
The news came shortly after the release of Solange’s track with Kendrick Lamar, Looks Good With Trouble, as Billboard reports.
A release date for her forthcoming album has yet to be announced.
