South by Southwest, the world’s biggest music conference held in Austin, Texas has invited 16 artists from Australia and 3 from New Zealand to showcase at the music festival in 2013.
Something For Kate, 360 and Seth Sentry made the first announcement along with Vaudeville Smah, Gold Field, Sugar Army, The Swiss, Nolita Knights, The Chevelles, San Cisco, Hiatus Kaiyote, Emma Louise, Atlas Genius, Bearhug, Twerps and Transcription of Organ Music.
From New Zealand, Tom Lark, Six60 and Kidsof88 scored invited to SXSW as well.
The acts named today were amongst the first acts to apply to showcase at SXW and applications are still open.
About 50 more local performers are yet to be invited to attend SXSW, 2013.
SXSW will choose about 550 acts from outside North America to showcase at next year’s event.
Acts have until November 7 to lodge an application at Sonicbids.
Around 19,000 industry professionals attend SXSW each year.
SXSW, 2013 is on from March 12-17, 2013.
