The second trailer for The Great Gatsy was uploaded in the past few hours and towards the end Filter’s version of The Turtles 60s pop classic ‘Happy Together’ is featured.
The Filter version was recorded in 2009 for another movie ‘The Stepfather’. That movie was a remake of a 1987 thriller but flopped at the box-office leaving the Filter song relatively obscure to this day.
The song was originally recorded by The Turtles in 1967. The Turtles, Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, were later known as Flo and Eddie and at one time did time with Frank Zappa and the Mothers.
Their ‘Happy Together’ was the song that bumped The Beatles ‘Penny Lane’ from number one in America.
Then along came director Baz Lurhmann with his remake of ‘The Great Gatsby’ and the Filter song has a second lease of life.
Lurhmann’s new edition of ‘The Great Gatsby’, filmed in Sydney, stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke.
It has now been revealed that Jay-Z will score the movie.
