Guy Sebastian keeps his “Battle Scars” at No.1 in Australia for a third week, matching the three week run at the top of his first No.1 “Angels Brought Me Here” (Dec 2003).

Gavin Ryan reports that “Battle Scars” also becomes the longest running No.1 this year by a local artist, with the last long running No.1 by an Aussie being “Good Night” for Reece Mastin which stayed atop for four broken weeks from late November 2011.
We have to go back to late June for the last time a female act had two or more Top 10 singles (Karise Eden with four Top 10s), as this week 16 year old British singer Birdy lands two entries, with last week’s massive leaper “Skinny Love” now moving up to a new peak of No.2, and she climbs three places to No.10 with her other cover song “People Help the People”, plus she also lands the new No.1 album of the week with her self-titled debut set.
After two weeks at No.1 and two weeks at No.2, “Boom Boom” for Justice Crew drops down a places to No.3, and also back one spot to No.4 is the other Top 10 jump-in from last week “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” for Taylor Swift. And apart from the changes at No.2, 3, 4 and 10, the rest of the Top 10 from last week all stay put including the No.7 debut from The Script and Will.i.am with “Hall of Fame”.
NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: The new remix for David Guetta and Sia’s second collaboration “She Wolf” leaps a massive eighty-two places from No.93 to No.11 this week, whilst their first teaming “Titanium” (HP-5×4, TW-98) took two weeks to reach the Top 10 (debuted at #29, went to #10 second week). Also scoring a new peak within the Top 20 is Chiddy Bang with “Mind Your Manners”, up three places to No.14. Returning to the Top 20 is James Morrison’s “I Won’t Let You Go”, back up twenty places to No.18, with James touring at the end of September.
Ne-Yo has the biggest song jumping up within the Top 50 this week, as “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)” is up twenty-four places to No.22. Matchbox 20 climbs back up to their former peak of No.26 with “She’s So Mean” ahead of their “North” albums release this coming week. “Primadonna” for Marina & The Diamonds climbs three places to a new peak of No.36, and Jessica Mauboy’s “Gotcha” jumps up six places to No.43. Pitbull’s current national tour helps his former No.4 single “Back in Time” return to the Top 50 at No.49 (up six places), whilst his new single with Shakira, “Get it Started” (HP-31) is back up twenty-three places to No.68 this week.
DOWN DOWN: “Spectrum (Say My Name)” for Florence + the Machine leaves the Top 10 after four weeks inside, having peaked at No.4. “Wide Awake” for Katy Perry drops seven places to No.25, but Jay Sean and Pitbull drop ten places to No.32, with Delta’s “Dancing With a Broken Heart” following the same route, down ten places to No.33.
“This is Love” for Will.i.am drops fourteen places to No.40, and The Veronica’s “Lolita” falls nine places to No.42. Lastly Jason DeRulo’s “Pick up the Pieces” takes a massive dive of thirty-four places, down to No.71 from last week’s No.37.
Rita Ora’s first UK single “R.I.P.” featuring Tinie Tempah becomes her second chart entry in Australia, as it debuts at No.29 this week. The song went to No.1 for two weeks in mid-May in England, whilst her former No.9 single here “How We Do (Party)” (TW-50) went to No.1 in her homeland two weeks ago. “R.I.P.” features a sample of “Heartbeat” by Nneka (the I-I-I-I-I in the chorus comes from Nneka’s song).
Lower 50: The only track to score a new peak in the lower fifty is Tyga’s “Rack City”, up six places to No.62. Flo Rida and Sia’s “Wild Ones” turns around and jumps back up twenty-three places to No.57, whilst Skrillex is back up ten places to No.76 with “Bangarang” (HP-4). “Say You Like Me” (HP-29) for We the Kings jumps up fourteen places to No.80, and up ten places to No.90 after returning last week at #100 are Jay-Z and Kanye West with their “Ni**as in Paris” (HP-71).
Returning to the Top 100 this at No.79 is Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” (HP-5), “Moves Like Jagger” (HP-2×10) for Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera at No.92, “The Only Exception” (HP-41) for Paramore at No.93, “Runaways” (HP-67) by The Killers at No.96, “Titanium” for David Guetta and Sia at No.98 and back in at #100 is Avicii with “Levels” (HP-24).
There are three new entries to the lower half of the Top 100 this week, with Evermore debuting at No.58 with “Follow the Sun”, the lead single and title track from their fourth album due in mid October. This becomes the former New Zealand band’s (now Melbourne, Australia based) tenth ARIA Singles chart entry, the first since “Underground” (HP-53) back in March 2010. Marvin Priest lands at No.59 with his fourth single entitled “Are You Ready”, whilst another R’n’B solo male artist debuts at No.72, Taio Cruz with his new track “Fast Car” (not a cover song), Taio’s also one of the support acts for Pitbull’s Australian tour at the moment.
