Juliet Childs is the 8-year old kid from Queensland who in the past week became a YouTube sensation by generating more viewers than Young Talent Time.
Juliet’s video “My First Hardcore Song’ was made for nothing by her mother Kristina and recorded by family friend Rob Sharpe and in the last 24 hours has had around 1.5 million views. In the past 5 days since the video was uploaded it has had 14,317,490 views.
Compare that to the multi-million dollar Channel 10 budget for Young Talent Time that premiered on Australian television on Sunday night and generated just over 1 million viewers.
The ‘My First Hardcore Song’ video only happened last week. “Last week Juliet was at our friend, Rob Sharpe’s house and for fun they recorded a song to show me for when I picked her up,” Kristina tells Noise11.com. “When they played it to me I was in tears of laughter at how insanely cute the whole thing was, I said to him that I would make a film clip for it for fun to show our friends and family. So on Thursday while we were having a play date at New Farm Park I shot some footage of Juliet singing along to the song. Came home, edited the film clip up quickly and posted it after dinner to YouTube. Within 3 hours I had already received 1000+ emails and everything has spiraled from there”.
The song was almost entirely a Juliet Childs composition, but she did get some help. “Juliet came up with all the lyrics besides “Lets open up this Pit” and “Get your two step on”, Kristina says.
Juliet has been noticed worldwide. Media as far away as Baltimore have done stories on the song.
