The music icon who fronted Sly and the Family Stone and was a major influence on Prince and Rick James

Sly and the Family Stone had a hit with their very first single ‘Dance To The Music’ and a number one hit with ‘Everyday People’.

Sly became a heavy user of cocaine at the height of his success. It is said he carried a violin case full of illegal drugs wherever he went in the late 60s. By 1982, he had dropped out of action after the release of the final Sly and the Family Stone album ‘Ain’t But The One Way’.

Sly Stone has been spotted in the down-market Crenshaw district of southwest Los Angeles.
