2015 Art Music Award Winner Announced In Sydney

The 2015 Art Music Awards, presented by APRA/AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre, have been announced in Sydney.

The Art Music Awards celebrates “the achievement and creative success of composers, performers and practitioners in the genres of contemporary art music, jazz and experimental music”.

The event was hosted by Fenella Kernebone and featured music performances curated by Genevieve Lacey.

The major award for Distinguished Services to Australian Music went to Larry Sitsky. Sitsky has previously received the Order of Australia, Centenary Medal, Advance Australia award, and cultural ambassadorships to China, Russia, USA. He is a foundation member of the School of Music since 1966, and have held the positions of Head of Composition studies, Head of Academic Studies, and Head of Keyboard Studies.

Larry Sitsky is one of Australia’s most prolific authors of music text books. His books have become standard texts in areas such as Ferruccio Busoni, Anton Rubinstein, Alkan, Classical Reproducing Piano Rolls, Music of the twentieth century avant-garde, Music of the repressed Russian avant-garde, 20th century Australian piano music.
