In an interview on Free Radio, 5 Seconds of Summer tell presenter Adam Wilbourn how they hardly get to see the One Direction boys any more, and how they’ve almost been caught naked like Justin Bieber.
About not being able to see One Direction:
Ashton: “We hardly ever see them. I made the effort to go down to their show last night in Birmingham and I said hello to the guys and they played a show, and I watched the show and it was real feel good. I tell you what, they have mastered the art of making people feel good at their show. There’s nothing more to it and I think that’s a really cool thing and that’s something I admire about that band – it brings a smile to your face. It’s not over complicated, it’s a very simple thing that they do and it’s cool but unfortunately we don’t get to see the guys a lot. We’re on tour, they’re on tour and that’s the way things are.”
Closest they’ve been to being caught naked:
Callum: “If you wake up in a hotel room and there’s fans out the front and you walk out and you go to the window. I’ve walked to the balcony naked and you just have to get back inside before anybody takes a photo.”
Ashton: “Because it’s not as impressive as old man Bieber.”
Most extreme thing a fan has done:
Michael: “I have one that was funny, it was somewhere across America and it was the second half of the leg and we were backstage and we came off for the encore and we were standing back there, we were all getting ready to go back on and there was just this girl standing there, like standing next to us, in our group. Everyone was kind of confused because it was like how did you get here?”
Ashton: “She was acting like she worked with us, that was the thing and if you act like you have a purpose backstage no one’s going to question you.”
Michael: “Apparently what she did was, you know there’s, on the right hand and left hand side (of the stage), there’s big railings, she jumped over the railing, just walked backstage and just walked in.”
