Local Sydney based four piece all-male group 5 Seconds of Summer whose average age is 18 years old, have jumped to No.1 in Australia and New Zealand, plus they have debuted at the top of the English and Irish charts this week.

Their track “She Looks So Perfect” jumped from No.6 to No.1 in Australia after the release of the four-track EP, which also features their cover of the 1980 track by The Romantics “What I Like About You”, a song the boys have been performing in their stage show for some time.

The foursome have been supporting One Direction on their current world tour, which has helped build their profile from it’s initial online YouTube covers, to now landing a No.1 debut on the English and Irish charts today.

In England the boys become the first Australian act to top the charts since Gotye with “Somebody That I Used to Know”, back in February of 2012, plus they are the fourth overall Australian band to hit the top spot in the UK, with the last Aussie band to land a No.1 being Madison Avenue with “Don’t Call Me Baby” in May 2000, the first being The Seekers in 1965 with “I’ll Never Find Another You”.

The boys also hit No.1 in Ireland, and they have jumped from No.9 to the top spot in New Zealand, plus they also debuted on the charts in Spain (#11), Denmark (#12), Belgium (#12) and Bulgaria (#20), with more charts to be revealed during the week.

The 5SOS boys start a five-countries-in-five days tour today (or later today in Europe) going to Sweden, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, following a week later with their North American tour from April 11th through until April 25th, after which they will be doing an Australian tour from April 30th until May 8th, then its back to the UK for 1D shows from late May.

Another debut on the UK Chart this week is at No.3 by French duo Faul & Wad Ad featuring Sydney act Pnau which samples the Pnau song ‘Baby’ under the new title “Changes”, whilst over in China the all male South Korean based group JJCC have taken the No.1 spot on the Chinese QIY K-Pop Chart with their track “At First”, the group featuring Sydney 23 year old dance teacher and singer Prince Henry Mak, who moved from Sydney to Seoul in 2012.
