Evans auctioned his French gold record award to raise funds for the Sydney Secondary College Balmain campus girls soccer team.

The school is sending the team to Hawaii to compete next month and Evans put up his coveted award to help them on their way.

The award was given to Evans by Atlantic Records for 100,000 sales of the AC/DC album ‘High Voltage’ in France.

Evans was the bass player for AC/DC from March 1975 to June 1977. He played on the albums ‘TNT’, ‘High Voltage’, ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’, ‘Let There Be Rock’ and ‘Jailbreak 74’.
