AC/DC reintroduced Phil Rudd’s replacement Chris Slade with their Grammy performance in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Slade was the drummer for AC/DC from 1989-1994 and played on ‘The Razors Edge’ album and the hit ‘Thunderstruck’. He left in 1994 to join Dio and was replaced by Rudd who had left the band 10 years earlier.
AC/DC chose to belt out their new song ‘Rock Or Bust’ and their 1979 hit ‘Highway To Hell’ for the performance, the latter an interesting choice considering both lead singer Brian Johnson and new drummer Chris Slade did not play on the original.
‘Highway To Hell’ was the last AC/DC album Bon Scott sang on before his death in 1980.
Chris Slade confirmed his reunion with AC/DC over the weekend after speculation late last week. AC/DC will play their first show at Coachella in April. The world tour is expected to head to Australia in March 2016.
