Jack White’s recording projects continue, with comic actor John C. Reilly releasing some country tunes on Third Man.
The actor, best known for his goofy roles in Talladega Nights and Boogie Nights, has recorded two trad country tunes for White’s Third Man label.
It’s not such a huge surprise, since he sang razor-sharp parodies of classic tunes in his music mock biopic Walk Hard and also sang in Chicago.
The first single is a duet with Becky Stark of country-pop group Lavender Diamond, a cover of ‘50s Texan country star Ray Price’s ‘I’ll Be There If You Ever Want’.
The other single is a tune with folkie Tom Brousseau, a cover of the Delmore Brothers ‘Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar’, a snippet of which is embedded below.
Both songs will be available to download on iTunes, or buy on vinyl from Third Man, on November 29.
