Adam Lambert Planning Solo Tour

Adam Lambert hopes people like his new album, otherwise he won’t get a solo tour.

The 33-year-old singer saw his status rise after landing in the runner-up position on American Idol in 2009 and he was the headline act of his own concert series, the Glam Nation Tour, in 2010 after the star’s debut album For Your Entertainment proved to be a great success with fans.

Adam is currently promoting his third studio offering The Original High and he’s hoping it will be well-received, because his second 2012 LP Trespassing wasn’t particularly successful.

“Yeah, if people like this record!’ he told Billboard in response to whether fans can expect another solo tour from him.

“There was a couple of freestanding [American] dates, but unfortunately. I mean, you know, it’s common knowledge Trespassing wasn’t quite the commercial success that we all had hoped it would be, which would have supported a tour. I’m really, really thankful that the fans ate it up, and that we debuted at No. 1 on the [Billboard 200] chart. That was lovely. I stand by the album.”

Adam is riding high at the moment having just finished a series of shows with legendary rock band Queen in the UK and Europe.

And the star is extremely excited about a song he worked on with Queen guitarist Brian May for The Original High.

“For the Queen fans out there that saw the tour, Brian May is on one of the [new album’s] tracks, playing guitar on a song called Lucy,’ Adam said. ‘I played him the demo and he was like ‘Oh, I love this, I have some ideas.’ So he came in with all this great stuff to contribute. It was really exciting.”

The Original High will be released on June 12.
