After scoring 17 weeks at number one in Australia, Adele ‘21’ has officially beaten records held by Abba, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Skyhooks.
Adele ‘21’ this week clocked up its 17th week at number one in Australia.
That flies past the 16 weeks held by Skyhooks ‘Living In The 70s’, Simon & Garfunkel ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, The Beatles ‘The Beatles’ (White Album) and Abba ‘The Best of Abba’.
Adele still has a long way to go to break the Australian number one record held by ‘The Sound of Music’ soundtrack from 1965 but if she can go another 3 weeks she will equal Shania Twain ‘Come On Over’.
Ahead of her are:
76 weeks
Soundtrack – The Sound of Music (1965/66/67)
34 weeks
Dire Straits – Brothers in Arms (1985/86)
30 weeks
The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967/68)
