Adele scores her 31st week at the top, but we have a new number one single from Fun with Janelle Monae.
Hey look, Adele’s 21 is on top of the Australian charts. Again. It’s her 31st week there, but we can presume she’ll be punted off by the Hilltop Hoods next week.
Aussies did pretty well this week, though. Brisbane guitar pop kids Last Dinosaurs hit number eight with their debut In A Million Years and country stalwart Troy Cassar-Daley’s Home popped in at number nine.
The other debuts were decidedly harder – Bob Seger’s Ultimate Hits at 18, US southern metal monsters Every Time I Die have Ex Lives at 46 and comedy cock rock band Steel Panther’s Balls Out scraped in at 50.
Tours helped out One Direction (up to number two), Bon Iver (from 36 to 17), Jessie J (back in the chart at 36), The Wombats (back in at 43) and Taylor Swift, who got big lifts for Speak Now, the live album, and Fearless.
Passenger dropped from number 9 all the way down to 42.
And it was a short reign for Gym Class Heroes atop the singles chart last week. They’ve been trumped by Fun’s ‘We Are Young’ featuring Janelle Monae.
