Adele retains her hold on number one, while Kimbra and Pete Murray make a fine showing on this week’s chart.
Following the Gotye blip at the top two weeks ago, Adele settles back into her rightful place at number one on the ARIA Chart.
Good news though, for Gotye co-conspirator Kimbra, whose debut album Vows popped in at number five. Balladeer Pete Murray’s fifth album Blue Sky Blue appeared at number six in its first week.
Lil Wayne’s US number one Tha Carter IV could only reach number nine here, and the only other new release for this week was Nicole Scherzinger’s Killer Love at number 28.
The big mover this week was The Beatles’ 1 album, which was finally released on iTunes and shot back to number ten on the chart.
And upon news of a forthcoming Sade tour, The Ultimate Collection came back in at number 35, and Eminem’s tour announcement got Recovery back into the chart at 47.
The singles chart remains the domain of 13-year-old girls and clubbers, with the exception of Gotye and Kimbra’s megahit still at number one.
At least it’s interesting to note that 22 of the top 50 singles have a “featuring” guest on them.
