Adele’s 21 has equaled John Farnham’s Whispering Jack record of 25 weeks at number one on the ARIA Album Chart.
This week Adele’s 21 album appeared at the top of the ARIA Album Chart for the 25th time, having gone ten times platinum.
This equals the monumental run of John Farnham’s Whispering Jack in 1986 and 1987, which has sold 24-times platinum as of 2006.
Since there are no real threats on the horizon in the form of major releases, 21 is likely to threaten Delta Goodrem’s Innocent Eyes run, which spent 29 weeks atop the chart in 2003.
If it surpasses Delta, 21 will have the spent second-highest number of weeks at the top of the album chart in ARIA history.
The only album which has spent more time at number one on the ARIA Chart is Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms which held the spot for 34 weeks.
