Big Issue readers should expect a sensory overload next week as international superstar Adele, whose platinum selling album ’21’ made her the undeniable songstress of 2011, has teamed up with The Big Issue to offer readers an early Christmas present in the form of an exclusive live track.
Adele has been uncharacteristically quiet in recent months, owing to recuperations following throat surgery, but popped her head above the parapet briefly to share with Big Issue readers this exclusive version of her smash hit ‘Hometown Glory’. Written when she was just 16, and originally released in 2007 on Jamie T’s Pacemaker Records label, the song is an evocative tribute to Adele’s hometown, London, and this previously unreleased live version can only be downloaded from The Big Issue website for seven days.
Big Issue Editor Paul McNamee said: ‘This download is a tremendous exclusive for The Big Issue as we launch our festive issues in the run-up to Christmas, which is a crucial time for our vendors. ‘Hometown Glory’ is one of Adele’s great anthems and this previously unreleased track is a moving and bold version. Our vendors will get a great sales boost because of it, and our readers receive an early Christmas gift, courtesy of Adele. We’d all like to say thank you to her for being so big-hearted, showing the true spirit of Christmas.’
The track is taken from the Adele’s new DVD, ‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall’, which showcases Adele’s powerful talent during a live performance hosted at the prestigious and acoustically blessed London venue.
Adele fans everywhere should look out for Big Issue vendors to buy a copy of the magazine and find out details on how to access the exclusive track, which will be available for download from next Monday 28 November 2011. The mp3 download is only available in the UK, from Nov 28 until Dec 4.
