Adele is still at number one but a litany of international acts debut on this week’s ARIA album chart.
It’s almost redundant to mention that Adele’s 21 is at the top of the Australian chart, so let’s investigate the other debuts this week.
Brit rockers The Kooks sneak into the top ten at number nine with Junk Of The Heart, Laura Marling’s A Creature I Don’t Know enters at number 12, and UK club-dubstepper Example’s Playing In The Shadows comes in at number 14.
Amazingly, US prog-metal legends Dream Theater debuted at number 17 with their eleventh studio album A Dramatic Turn Of Events.
LA indie-rockers Grouplove debuted at 21 with Never Trust A Happy Song. The first Australian debut this week comes from Ball Park Music at 36 with their first album Happiness And Surrounding Suburbs. And the last newey of the week is screamo act The Devil Wears Prada with Dead Throne at 44.
The other big mover this week include the seemingly evergreen Foster The People, whose slow-burning Torches comes back from 45 last week to 28.
Nice to see Kimbra actually step up a slot in her second week, with Vows at four. And her collaborator Gotye is holding at number two. Their triple-platinum smash hit ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ still sits at number one on the singles chart.
