Adele is rumoured to be returning to music with an “epic release”, which will see fellow artists clear the charts for her.
The British songstress has been absent from the industry since her 2011 album 21, focusing on her son Angelo who she has with her boyfriend Simon Konecki. Reports of her comeback have been rife for months now and with a third album reportedly set for release in late November (15), Adele is said to be reappearing with a bang.
On top of this, it’s thought other artists have decided to change the dates they unleash new music to cater to the star. For example, Little Mix and Sam Smith’s records will be available to purchase in early November to avoid clashing with Adele’s moment.
“Adele is coming and it’s very likely to be an epic release,” an insider told Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
“The major labels have realised it’s essential they get out any big releases before then because from November 20, it’s very likely to be about one woman only. She will dominate pre-Christmas sales.
“That’s why Justin Bieber, Kylie Minogue and One Direction are going head-to-head the week before – usually the record companies would want a No1 album with artists that big but in this case they simply want to get the album out there before Adele.”
Likewise, some musicians have apparently been advised to wait until next year (16) to drop new tunes. That said, some may not stick to the rules. Beyoncé surprised the world in 2013 by dropping her eponymous fifth album on iTunes with no promotion, so there is a chance she could shock fans again.
“It’s still possible there might be a surprise release from Coldplay or Beyoncé who would be confident to put music out at any time of the year,” the insider added.
“But Emeli Sandé and Michael Bublé, who share the same market as Adele, are both delayed into next year for certain.”
