Adele ‘21’ is number one again in Australia making it 32 weeks in total on top of the Australian chart.
If Adele can maintain the number one spot two more times she will equal the record set by Dire Straits ‘Brothers In Arms’ set back in 1986. If Adele can do it three more times she will have the longest album run at number one ever.
‘21’ is the second album from the English born Adele. For the songs on this record she worked with Ryan tedder, Paul Epworth, Rick Rubin, Dan Wilson and Jim Abbiss.
Although she hasn’t started work on a follow-up album yet the word on the street is that we may hear a new Adele song later this year as the theme for the new James Bond movie ‘Skyfall’. Adele has stated in a French interview that she will have a new song out this year but fell short of saying it was the new Bond theme. She said in the same interview that it will be a while before she releases her third album.
James Bond ‘Skyfall’ will be released in October. It will be the 23rd James Bond movie.
Dire Straits ‘Brothers In Arms’ was released in 1985. It won the band two Grammy Awards and a Brit Award.
The album is the 4th biggest selling album in Australia behind ‘Whispering Jack’ John Farnham, Meat Loaf ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ and Abba ‘The Best Of Abba’.
In pure sales Adele ‘21’ is the equal 11th best selling album of all-time in Australia.
