Adele spends week number 30 on top of the album chart, but we have a new number one single from Gym Class Heroes.
The Adele juggernaut is seemingly unstoppable. 21 has now officially spent longer at number one than Delta’s Innocent Eyes, this week cementing its 30th time in the top spot.
Another four weeks and she can equal Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms record (although no one will probably ever beat the highest number of all time at the top spot on the ARIA Charts – the Sound Of Music soundtrack at 76 weeks).
A surprise new entry comes from troubadour Passenger, whose All The Little Lights leapt into the number nine position.
The Dirty Three’s Toward The Low Sun came in at 31 and Sleigh Bells’ Reign of Terror came in at 32. And that was all for new albums.
There was a huge re-entry for tourer Ryan Adams, whose Ashes & Fire appeared at 16, higher than when it was released. And yet another iteration of Pink Floyd’s The Wall came back in at 20.
The Whitney Houston love isn’t dwindling yet. The Ultimate Collection holds at three, The Essential is still up at number eight, and her Greatest Hits at 15, but The Bodyguard soundtrack slumped from 28 last week to 44.
Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops And Hooligans is at number four and has been in the chart for 72 weeks, which is pretty amazing. Kelly Clarkson had a big drop, Stronger moving from 19 to 37.
As for the Singles Chart, finally someone knocked Flo Rida and Sia off the top spot. Gym Class Heroes’ ‘Ass Back Home’ featuring Neon Hitch claims the top spot this week.
