Just days after the death of Whitney Houston, Adele will equal Whitney’s record for longest run at number one for a female artist on the US album chart.
Adele ‘21’ will top the Billboard chart this week equaling the time spent by Whitney Houston’s ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack at number one back in 1992/1993.
According to HitsDailyDouble.com Adele has a good lead of the second biggest seller ‘Now That’s What I Call Music 41). Sales data is compiled from purchases made over the past week so any Whitney sales will only be counted in the final stages of the chart. ‘Whitney – The Greatest Hits’ averaged over the sales week should still manage a Top 20 position.
Whitney is the only female artist to have multiple albums top the US chart for more than 10 weeks. They are ‘The Bodyguard’ (20 weeks), ‘Whitney Houston’ (14 weeks) and ‘Whitney’ (11 weeks).
