It was all about the Indies on Thursday, June 21st at the 2018 A2IM Libera Awards, presented by SoundExchange with a special celebration of Merlin’s 10 Year Anniversary, held at The PlayStation Theater in NYC.
Closing out A2IM’s annual Indie Week, performers, nominees and industry VIPs walked the red carpet to start the night off. Spotted on the carpet were A2IM CEO Richard James Burgess, performer and nominee Natalie Prass, actor Brendan Hines, Brett Gurewitz, Willie Nile, DJ Breakout and The Funky 4 + 1, model Brittany Garrick, awards host Kate Wolff, Raul Midon and Shabazz Palaces among others
During the show, hosted by NYC comedian Kate Wolff, the audience was treated to performances by Aimee Mann, Funky 4+ 1, Natalie Prass, Raul Midon, Sam Outlaw, Vicktor Taiwo, and a special tribute to Sharon Jones by her band The Dap-Kings.
This year, A2IM honored punk rock trailblazer, Bad Religion guitarist and Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz Brett Gurewitz with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Merlin’s 10th Anniversary was also celebrated at the awards. The award was accepted on Merlin’s behalf by CEO Charles Caldas, who congratulated A2IM on another successful Indie Week, and thanked the Merlin board and staff for their continued hard work. this year.
