Soundwave Touring boss AJ Maddah has confirmed that the Harvest Festival has been officially cancelled.
“I am very sad to confirm that Harvest 2013 is cancelled. All tickets will be 100% refunded (incl all charges) by @oztix in the next week,” Maddah posted in a Tweet.
Many of the main acts will still tour Australia, headlining their own shows around the country. “Those who purchased harvest tickets will be given priority access to these headline shows,” AJ said.
Maddah added further speculation to his rumoured buy-in of the Big Day Out when asked about his plans with CSS. “We’re still trying to figure out what to do w CSS. Am going to ask Ken if he will have them join BDO,” he said.
Calls to the Big Day Out office were not returned by the question when asked to the Soundwave office was not denied.
Last week Maddah blamed the then potential demise of Harvest on Big Day Out’s “top heavy Harvest-centric line-up”.
Maddah said Harvest just did not sell. “As it stands, it is wiping out a lot of our life savings but at least we’ll be able to pay all of the bills,” he wrote. “Once I signed the contracts with 2nd ann bands, paid deposits on hotels, airfares, etc, if tix didn’t sell then it would fuck with the lives of other innocent people. Obviously I did a poor job of booking the festival and I should be the only 1 to be punished for it.
Harvest was to feature Massive Attack, Franz Ferdinand, Primus, Goldfrapp, The Drones, Eels, Mutemath, M Ward, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and M Ward. Plans for individual tours for this acts will become known over coming weeks.
