Melbourne music entrepreneur Albert Dadon has bought the name and assets of The Basement in Sydney.
Dadon plans on reopening The Basement in a new location as soon as possible. ’I was saddened to see The Basement close its doors. It was a loss to the cultural health of the city and Australia,’ Mr Dadon said.
“I hope that with the help of those who are committed to retain and reinvigorate Sydney’s music scene we will find an ideal new location of The Basement.’
Dadon is the owner of Birds Basement in Melbourne and performs at the venue himself regularly as Albare. He opened Bird’s Basement in Melbourne in March 2016. Some of the world’s best musicians have played at his venue.
Albare has also recorded 11 of his own albums as a solo artist and also with his band Urbanity, featuring Phil Turcio.
Dadon plans on turning the new look The Basement into a worldclass venue like its Melbourne counterpart.
“I would love to provide Sydneysiders with a wonderful 21st century experience, similar to what we created in Melbourne at Bird’s Basement,’ he says.
