Album Sales Stabilize In The USA

2015 album sales to June 30, 2015 have stabilized in the USA for the first time in years.

Overall album consumption (including streaming and individual track downloads) has actually increased 14.2% for the year to date to 259.4 million compared to 227.1 million for the same period in 2014.

Overall album sales had a modest 4% drop based on a 10% decrease for CD sales, a 0.1% decrease for digital album sales but a 38.4% increase for vinyl sales.

The overall album consumption figure takes into account people streaming complete albums via services like iHeartRadio and also the combined download of individual album tracks from services like iTunes.

The Top 10 albums in the USA (including Track Equivalent Albums (TEA) and Stream Equivalent Albums (SEA) are:

1. Taylor Swift – 1989 (2,011,000)
2. Drake – If You’re Reading This (1,431,000)
3. Ed Sheeran – X (1.428,000)
4. Soundtrack – 50 Shades of Grey (1,402,000)
5. Sam Smith – In The Lonely Hour (1,296,000)
6. Meghan Trainor – Title (1,209,000)
7. Soundtrack – Furious 7 (971,000)
8. Maroon 5 – V (966,000)
9. Nicki Minaj – Pinkprint (825,000)
10. Fall Out Boy – American Beauty (813,000)
