Alex Smith of Moving Pictures is finishing off his very first solo album, due in 2019, and the first taste of the album is ‘Slow Train’.
The ‘Slow Train’ features footage from the 1927 Buster Keaton movie ‘The General’. The scene features a very early stunt with Keaton doing his own work. He crawls onto the cow catcher of the train and, lying flat, uses one of the sleepers to remove another. It was a remarkable feat at the time.
It is only fitting that the man behind Moving Pictures uses Keaton’s movie pictures.
By the sounds of ‘Slow Train’ the first album from Smith will not sounds anything like Moving Pictures.
Moving Pictures formed in Sydney in 1978 and released their first album ‘Days of Innocence’ in 1981. The album ‘Days of Innocence’ was a number one album and the single ‘What About Me’ was also a number one hit.
Moving Pictures also provided the song ‘Never’ for the movie ‘Footloose’.
Alex Smith’s ‘Slow Train’ is available to download or stream now. The album is coming soon.
