After choosing April Fool’s Day to debut their new song ‘Foolish’, Melbourne sextet Alpine have announced the title of their second album is ‘Yuck’.
‘Yuck’ is the follow-up to 2012’s ‘A Is For Alpine’. The debut album peaked at #1 on iTunes and #11 on the ARIA album Charts, and was awarded iTunes “Alternative Australian Album of the Year” and The Age EG “Australian Album of the Year”. It also earned the Alpine a ticket across America on tour with Grouplove, Empire of the Sun and Crystal Fighters and a spot on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.
“Most of the music of the songs came from a textural or harmonic idea that I was curious about. I wanted to see if certain things would work in a pop song” comments Christian O’Brien, guitarist and first time co-producer of the album.
‘Yuck’ was recorded in Melbourne at MOOF studios with Dann Hume of Evermore. Hume co-produced the album with O’Brien.
The album ‘Yuck’ will be released in June. The single ‘Foolish’ is out now.
