Always On My Mind has been voted the nation’s favourite Elvis Presley track as revealed on last night’s ITV show ‘The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song’.
The 1972 smash hit was chosen from a shortlist of 20 of his greatest hits. The single was originally released as the B-side to Separate Ways, which reached Gold status in the USA selling over 1 million copies. However in the UK it was Always On My Mind that was the hit song.
Coming close to the top spot as the nation’s second favourite Elvis song is the iconic single Suspicious Minds. Reaching Number 1 in the States when it was released in 1968, Suspicious Minds was Elvis’ seventeenth and last song to hit the top spot. Here in the UK, the single just missed out on achieving Number 1 status peaking at Number 2 in the charts.
All 20 tracks been compiled in a brand new greatest hits album entitled ‘The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Songs’, which was released on Monday 4 November. A deluxe edition includes another 23 hits, ensuring the album’s status as a definitive Elvis Presley collection.
