Australian music executive and entrepreneur Amanda Pelman has been named to chair the Australian jury for the Eurovision Song Contest.
During the past 30 years. Pelman has been a powerhouse behind the scenes of the Australian music industry. One of her earliest achievements was signing a very young Kylie Minogue to Mushroom Records leading the Aussie singer to global success. Her next signing was Jason Donovan.
Amanda co-managed Jimmy Barnes in the 80s and co-founded Melodian Records with Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum. Together they signed Peter Andre, Indecent Obsession and Jo Beth Taylor.
Amanda was the co-producer of the ‘Long Way To The Top’ concert event and re-developed the live concert experience of ‘Morning Of The Earth’ with her partner Brian Cadd.
The Australian Eurovision jury will comprise of Richard Wilkins, Jake Stone, Danielle Spencer and Ash London. Australia’s Eurovision contestant is Guy Sebastian.
Votes from the Eurovision judges will count for 50% of the total score but judges cannot vote for their own country contestant.
The delayed broadcast of the Eurovision semi-finals will be aired on SBS One on Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23 from 7:30pm. The Grand Final will be broadcast on Sunday May 24 from 7:30pm. SBS will also broadcast both semi-finals and the Grand Final live on Wednesday May 20, Friday May 22 and Sunday morning May 24 from 5am.
