Amy Shark and Shane Nicholson have picked up first prizes from the International Songwriting Content.
Amy Shark won the AAA Award for her hit song ‘Adore’. Shane won the ‘Americana’ category for ‘Busted Lip’.
Other Aussies recognised for the songwriting excellence were Wollongong’s Fletcher Gull for ‘Folk/Singer-Songwriter’ for ‘Light Up’, Brisbane’s Dean Lewis for the Performance award for ‘Waves’ and Melbourne’s Ruel for ‘Don’t Tell Me’.
Australia also came first in the Rap/Hip-Hop category for ‘Love Not Lust’ by D.T.
Other Australian placegetters included second prizes for Wren, Missy Higgins, Dean Lewis, Birds of Tokyo and Elki.
Megan Washington picked up a third place for Performance for her song ‘Catherine Wheel’.
In total Australia won six first place wins, five second place wins, three third place wins and 43 honorable mentions.
