Anthony Callea turned 30 last December and decided to celebrate in song instead of having a big birthday bash.
Callea went into the studio with a collection of songs that inspired him over the years as well as a couple of brand new ones he had written especially for the project.
“I knew I was turning 30 and I was reflecting on the last 30 years, especially the last 9 years off Idol and ‘I thought what do I want to do, how do I want to celebrate this without having a big birthday bash’”, he tells Noise11. “It was about putting this album together. These songs have influenced me over the years, whether it was the artist or the melody or the lyrics behind them. I just wanted to put my stamp on them. A lot of them I have performed live and I had just never recorded them”.
Thirty was released through Universal Music on ABC Music.
