Apple will launch the Apple Watch at SXSW next week which kind of suggests that their “in-house music system” U2 will be there as well.
U2 have be integral to the latest Apple campaign. They sold their last ounce of credibility to Apple for global exposure for their latest album.
U2 played at the announcement of the Apple Watch last September and brought long-term damage to their brand with their spamming of the album via Apple products.
It kind of makes sense that when you have done this amount of damage to the brand that took 30 years to build, then you might as well go in for the kill.
U2 is expected to be Apple’s product placement during SXSW starting next week in Austin, Texas. Apple is planning a pop-up store at SXSW to make the Apple Watch available for media and tech savvy SXSW delegates for the first time in the world ahead of its official release in April.
April did a similar thing at SXSW in 2011 with a pre-release of the iPad 2.
With SXSW holding back on its keynote speaker announcement and Apple announcing their pop-up stores at the event, it makes sense that we are about to hear of an official announcement at U2 will perform at SXSW and Bono and/or U2 will give the keynote address.
Watch this space. You won’t have long to wait for an answer.
