The Arctic Monkeys have revealed that they are getting heavy for their as-yet-untitled fifth album.
“We just did this new song ‘R U Mine’ and I think that’s where it’s going to be at for us for the new record,” the band’s front man Alex Turner told Artrocker. “We feel the strength of the last record is ‘Don’t Sit Down’. The other songs like that ‘Brick By Brick’ the other side of it is fine, but I’m not sure how much more of that we can do”.
“I think we’re going to go in the direction of those heavier tunes” he also said.
Despite the “heavier” claim, Turner said in the same interview that many of the songs were written in his New York flat on an acoustic guitar.
“…then we went and applied to it what we thought they needed, which is not really a way that we worked before,” he says.
The band are yet to enter the studio, but they have no dates planned and are believed to be working on the record now.
