Once again, Aretha Franklin has cancelled scheduled performances due to orders from her doctor.
Over the last few years, this has become a regular occurrence, raising the concern of fans.
Cancelled are her March 25 show at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark and her April 28 date at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The NOLA organizers say that Rod Stewart will replace her on the bill.
Franklin’s management team released a statement saying that Franklin “has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months” adding that she is “extremely disappointed she cannot perform as she had expected and hoped to.”
The long rest period does raise additional concerns as it is obvious she is not suffering from something like the flu.
This is supposed to be Franklin’s final year of performing.
