The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin has issued a statement following the death of her Goddaughter Whitney Houston.
“I just can’t talk about it now. It’s so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn’t believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen. My heart goes out to Cissy, her daughter Bobbi Kris, her family and Bobby,” she said in a statement.
Whitney came from music royalty. Her mother is the great Gospel singer Cissy Houston, a close friend of Aretha’s. Whitney’s cousin is singer Dionne Warwick.
In 1989, Whitney and Aretha recorded the duet ‘It Isn’t, It Wasn’t, It Ain’t Never Gonna Be’ for Aretha’s ‘Through The Storm’ album.
