Meghan Trainor’s ‘Title’ is the brand new number one album in Australia.
The ‘All About The Bass’ hitmaker had a convincing lead of Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ on the ARIA Album chart this week off the back of the momentum of her two top 40 singles ‘Lips Are Movin’ (no 11) and ‘All About That Bass’ no 24.
Trainor also announced her first Australian tour for Live Nation this week.
Albums by Ed Sheeran ‘X’, Sam Smith ‘In The Lonely Hour’ and Hozier ‘Hozier’ took up spots 3, 4 and 5.
With labels still getting into motion for 2015 few albums were released in the previous week causing few to debut this week. New to the chart were the soundtrack for ‘Into The Woods’ at 13, 2 Cellos ‘Celloverse’ at 24, Ellie Gouding ‘Halcyon Day’ at 44, and Banks ‘Goddess’ at 90 with re-entries for Passenger ‘Whispers’ at 73 and Passenger ‘All The Little Lights’ at 81 fuelled by his current Australian tour.
The Smith Street Band ‘Throw Me In The River’ also had an impact on the Australian chart this week generating a place at position 105 after generating exposure this week for their new Abbott government protest song ‘Wipe That Shit Eating Grin Off Your Punchable Face’.
