A discrepancy in the ARIA Chart sales figures over the weekend has incorrectly placed Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey’s ‘The Great Country Songbook’ at number one.
A recount of sales figures has found that Kanye West ‘Yeezus’ album actually outsold the Cassar-Daley & Harvey album.
The initial figures had the Cassar-Daley album ahead of West by less than 200 units but the data error has found that ‘The Great Country Songbook’ had sold less than originally calculated.
A statement from ARIA reads:
ARIA would like to inform Australian music fans that, due to a data error discovered after initial publication, this week’s ARIA Albums chart has been recalculated. This has resulted in a change to the top of the chart, with Kanye West moving to the #1 spot with the album ‘Yeezus’, and ‘The Great Country Songbook’ (Troy Cassar-Daly and Adam Harvey) to #2. ‘The Great Country Songbook’ remains at the top of both the Country Albums chart and Australian Albums chart.
ARIA takes the calculation of the weekly Charts very seriously, and aims to provide the most accurate information to both industry and fans alike. On the rare occasion an error is made, we move as quickly as possible to have it rectified. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. The ARIA Albums Chart will be re-published shortly.
The Top 3 ARIA albums this week are now:
1. Kanye West – Yeezus
2. Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey – The Great Country Songbook
3. Empire of the Sun – Ice On The Dune
