Ariana Grande is “broken” after a suspected terrorist attack at her Manchester Arena gig in the U.K. killed 22 people and injured dozens more.

The horrific incident occurred in the box office area of the venue at around 10.40pm local time after the gig on Monday night (22May17), when a lone male attacked carrying an improvised explosive device claimed the lives of 22 people.

A further 59 people were injured as they left the concert, Greater Manchester Police chief constable Ian Hopkins confirmed, with Ariana taking to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning to express her sorrow over the attack.

“Broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words,” she wrote.

Ariana has reportedly suspended her tour in the wake of the bombing, cancelling her scheduled gig in London on Thursday and shelving the rest of her upcoming European tour dates, according to TMZ.com.

A statement from Ariana’s management team, headed by Scooter Braun, added: “Tonight, our hearts are broken. Words cannot express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack.

“We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We are thankful for the selfless service tonight of Manchester’s first responders who rushed towards danger to help save lives. We ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers.”

The singer’s friends also took to social media to offer her their support following the bombing.

Sharing a snap of herself with Ariana, Miley Cyrus wrote on Instagram: “Wishing I could give my friend @arianagrande a great big hug right now… love love love you …. so sorry you had to be apart of such a tragic event! my most sincere condolences to anyone and everyone affected by this horrific attack! all I can do is send as much HOPE & PEACE your way! This MUST end! No more war …. no more innocent lives taken …. L-O-V-E.”

John Legend added on his Twitter: “Sending love to the U.K., @ArianaGrande and all of her supporters who were caught up in this awful attack. Heartbreaking.”

Other stars including Cher, Katy Perry and Ellie Goulding also tweeted offering Ariana and those affected their hopes and prayers.

At a press conference held by police in the early hours of Tuesday morning, officers said they were treating the incident as a suspected terrorist attack.
