Ashton Kutcher has “resigned” as a Twitter tweeter after posting support for a child molester.
Kutcher posted a tweet of support for Penn State staff after they were fired this week for covering up information about child molestation at the school when eight boys were assaulted over a 15-year period. “As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn. St. case,” he wrote.
His fans were mortified. “@aplusk So did you tweet this when the catholic church was exposed to sexual abuse? Or are you just a football fan? Seriously?” wrote Jeremy Johnson.
“@aplush you’re a douchebag,” wrote another fan.
Kutcher reacted quickly to the fans flaming on his twitter page. “As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won’t happen again,” he wrote.
Kutcher has 8.2 million followers on Twitter. “I’m just trying to be a good person,” was his last Tweet.
