Melbourne icon Sisto Malaspina deserves a State funeral following his execution at the hands of a terrorist in Bourke Street on Friday afternoon.
A state funeral can be authorised for prominent citizens by the Victorian premier.
A question for Melbournians please…. Should Sisto Malaspina receive a state funeral for his services to Melbourne's cafe and food culture over the 44 years+ at Pelligrini's? #Sisto #Melbourne #Pelligrinis #BourkeStreet #rip

The Pelligrini’s co-founder of renowned Bourke Street, Melbourne espresso bar Pellegrini’s was stabbed to death by known terrorist 30-year old Somali-born Hassan Khalif Shire Ali.
Police now have to explain why the radical Ali was allowed to roam free in the city. Ali had been previously investigated for his association with terrorist organisations. Police have confirmed he was radicalised by Islamic State. In 2015, Ali had his passport cancelled after planning a trip to Syria. However, despite all the prior knowledge, police did not consider him a threat to society.
This now begs the question, how many others are known to be in society with a similar record who police do not consider a threat?
74-year old Sisto Malaspina died a hero after trying to help his attacker when he saw his car was on fire.
Tributes for Sisto are flowing on Twitter.

While state funerals are generally reserved for public dignitaries, the premier can authorise a state funeral for prominent Victorians. Sisto deserves a state funeral for his work in the community for the past 40 years and so that Victorians can publicly condemn the terrorist attack that took his life.
Email the premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews and request he authorise a state funeral for this Victorian icon.
