Bramhall was known as “an Austin fixture”.

His career started out in high school when he formed The Chessman with schoolfriend Jimmie Vaughan. After moving to Austin he formed Texas Storm with Jimmie and The Nightcrawlers with Marc Benno. The Nightcrawlers introduced Jimmy’s brother Stevie Ray Vaughan as a guitarist.

Doyle was the drummer and the Vaughan Brothers ‘Family Style’ album and wrote ‘Dirty Pool’ on Stevie’s ‘Texas Flood’ album.

His son Boyle Bramhall II went on to become a guitarist in Jimmie’s band The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Doyle is survived by his wife Barbara Logan, daughter Georgia and son Doyle II.
