Australia Charts: Ed Sheeran ÷ Spends 24th Week At No 1

Ed Sheeran holds again at No.1 for a 24th week with his third album “÷ (Divide)” and it could be there again next week, as he has two more shows in Brisbane this coming week before heading to New Zealand next week.

“÷ (Divide)” bring Ed’s tally of stays at No.1 to now 33 weeks from his three albums, placing him equal ninth on the list for ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums 1965-2018’ alongside Jimmy Barnes (33 weeks from 11 #1’s), while the album is now one week behind the 25 weeks notched up by 1986/87’s “Whispering Jack” by John Farnham. Plus Ed has two his older sets within the Top 10, his second album “x (Multiply)” is up one spot to No.4 and his debut album “+ (Positive)” also up one place to No.7.

The soundtrack for “The Greatest Showman” is at No.2 again here and No.1 for a tenth straight week in England, while the only other film music within the ten is for the Kendrick Lamar led ‘Black Panther’ set, which is down four spots to No.8. After twenty-seven years together (1991) and twenty-one years since their first chart entry (1997), The Wiggles land their first ever Top 10 album as last weeks debut “Nursery Rhymes 2” leaps up sixty-five places to a new peak of No.3, the group scored their previous highest chart effort with last years “Nursery Rhymes” (HP-15).

The debut album for Calum Scott and “Only Human” is the highest entry this week at No.5, the set has so far seen two songs charts in “You Are the Reason” (HP-27, TW-40) and “Dancing on My Own” (HP-2, TW-81). The other current tourist here is Bruno Mars who is up four places to No.6 with his third album “24k Magic”, while the recent No.1 set for Vance Joy and “Nation of Two” drops six places to No.9. The second and final debut within the Top 10 is the sixth mixtape for Logic and “Bobby Tarantino II” which is his first mixtape to chart here and his fourth albums chart entry all up, plus his first to crack the Top 10. The mix has two songs within the Top 100 at the moment in “44 More” (returns at No.88, HP-85) and “Everyday” with Marshmello (TW-38).

UP:
* The self-titled Dua Lipa (HP-16) album is back up a couple of places to No.17 thanks to her guest on the Bruno Mars current tour here.
* Talking of Bruno Mars, his first two albums rise this week, with his debut LP “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” leaping twenty-eight places to No.34 and his second set “Unorthodox Jukebox” back within the chart at No.39.
* Luke Bryan will be touring here this coming week, and his latest set “What Makes You Country” jumps back up twelve places to No.38.
* Another US country singer who is touring at the moment is Luke Combs whose debut album “This One’s for You” returns to the chart at a new peak of No.62 (formerly peaked at No.94).
* Niall Horan is back up again with his “Flicker” set, rising twelve to No.72.
* George Ezra was on a promo tour here this past week for his forthcoming second album “Staying at Tamara’s” (due March 23rd), thus his debut set from 2014 and “Wanted on Voyage” returns at No.73 this week.
* The Michael Jackson “Essential” collection rises back up eight spots to No.78, with the Coldplay “4 CD Catalogue Set” returning at No.95 and The Dixie Chicks’ “Essential” back in at No.98.

DOWN:
* Three albums leave the Top 10 this week with the Post Malone set “Stoney” (HP-5, WI10-13) down six to No.13, the “Fifty Shades Freed” (HP-4, WI10-4) soundtrack dropping seven to No.16 and last week entry to the ten and “How to Socialise & Make Friends” for Camp Cope (HP-6, WI10-1) falling twenty-six spots to No.32.
* The Pink album “Beautiful Trauma” drops seven places to No.19, but with a new track just issued and her world tour here starting in July it should climb back up soon.
* The soundtrack ‘Moana’ falls eleven places to No.22, with further declining soundtracks being for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1” (16 to 26), Vol.2 (33 to 44), “Trolls” (48 to 59) and “Suicide Squad” (41 to 61).
* Sam Smith’s “The Thrill of it All” falls eleven places to No.29.
* The Migos “Culture II” album is down nine spots to No.30.
* Justin Timberlake sees his “Man of the Woods” album drop down nine spots to No.35.
* With the Queen tour here finished, their “Greatest Hits” set drops fifteen places to No.40, while their “Platinum Collection” tumbles twenty-seven spots to No.79, with other collections falling for Pink (35 to 41), The Foo Fighters (39 to 45), Cold Chisel (43 to 51), Guns N’ Roses (54 to 67), The Killers (59 to 68), Crowded House (57 to 69), Elton John (Diamonds, 63 to 77 and Rocket Man 81 to 100), Red Hot Chili Peppers (58 to 80) and Fleetwood Mac (Very Best of 65 to 93).
* The Vance Joy debut set “Dream Your Life Away” is down twelve places to No.42.
* Adele’s third album “25” which climbed last week is back down eleven to No.43.
* The Angus & Julia Stone set “Snow” falls back down fourteen places to No.48.
* Sarah Blasko and her “Depth of Field” set tumble twenty-one spots to No.50.
* Taylor Swift’s older entry in “1989” declines fourteen spots to land at No.52.
* Chris Brown slides thirteen places to No.53 with his “Heartbreak on a Full Moon” album.
* Both Drake albums fall this week, with “More Life” down nine to No.54 and “Views” declining ten to No.70.
* The Carole King set “Tapestry” drops eleven spots to No.57.
* The Wombats’ “Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life” falls twenty-three to No.60.
* 6ix9ine and the mixtape “Day69” drops sixteen places to No.63.
* After climbing back up to No.28 last week thanks to their tour here, the Fall Out Boy set “M A N I A” is back down thirty-seven places to No.65.
* Both albums charting for The Weeknd are down, with “Starboy” dropping nineteen places to No.74 and his older set “Beauty Behind the Madness” down eleven to No.91.
* The Hilltop Hoods fall twelve to No.81 with “Drinking… Walking…Restrung”.
* Triple J’s “Like a Version Vol.13” drops down fifteen places to No.87.
* The Harry Styles self-titled album is down fourteen spots to No.89.
* The return last week for the Roy Orbison set “A Love So Beautiful” is this week down thirty-seven spots to No.90.
* The Macklemore set “Gemini” plummets twenty-three places to land at No.94.
* “So Good” for Zara Larsson drops seventeen spots to No.96.
* Two of last weeks Top 50 entries leave the Top 100 this week in “Hope World” for j-hope (#13) and “All Nerve” for The Breeders (#44).

* #5 (LP#1) – Only Human by Calum Scott

* #10 (Mix#6) – Bobby Tarantino II by Logic

* #11 (LP#7) – self-titled by Ian Moss is the Cold Chisel lead guitarists first new studio album since October 2009’s “Soul on West 53rd” (HP-40) and it becomes his highest charted album since his debut set “Matchbook” hit No.1 in August of 1989 (3 wk stay), and overall this is his fifth albums chart entry too.

* #12 (LP#18) – Firepower by Judas Priest becomes the British metal acts highest charting album in Australia, beating the No.17 peak of their 2008 set “Nostradamus” (June) and is their first entry since their repackaged ninth album “Defenders of the Faith” (HP-90, March 2015), while overall this is their tenth albums chart (9 studio and 1 live) entry since 1982’s eighth album “Screaming for Vengeance” (HP-81).

* #14 (LP#1) – Not all the Beautiful Things by What So Not is the debut album for Australian DJ and producer Chris Emerson, with this set featuring such acts as Slumberjack, Daniel Johns, BUOY, James Earl, Skrillex, San Holo and Dyro and features the previously issued singles “Be Okay Again”, “Stuck in Orbit” and “Beautiful”.

* #15 (LP#2) – Chiaroscuro by Ocean Alley is the second album and first entry for local Sydney band who formed in 2011, having initially released two EP’s in 2013 and 2015, with the name of the album taken from a Renaissance painting style that models three dimensions in art.

* #20 (Comp) – Both Sides of the Sky by Jimi Hendrix is the third in a series of re-issued work by the late 1960’s guitarist after “Valleys of Neptune” (HP-8, March 2010) and “People, Hell & Angels” (HP-29, March 2013), with this thirteen track set featuring covers by Jimi of songs from Muddy Waters, Stephen Stills, Guitar Slim and the Joni Mitchell penned track “Woodstock”.

* #36 (LP#2) – Lil’ Boat 2 by Lil’ Yachty is the US rappers follow-up to his May 2017 debut set “Teenage Emotions” (HP-62), with the first “Lil’ Boat” being a mixtape from March 2016, this set features guest such as 2 Chainz, Quavo, Offset and Lil’ Pump amongst its seventeen tracks.

* #47 (LP#2) – Tearing at the Seams by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats is the follow-up to the band self-titled debut from 2015 (HP-19 here) and overall is the fifth album released by Nathaniel (solo or in a band) since his first in 2007.

* #49 (LP#6) – Outsider by Three Days Grace is the fourth Top 100 entry and second to hit the Top 50 for the Canadian rock band whose self-titled debut set reached No.47 here in May 2004, while their last entry here was their fifth album “Human” (HP-63) in April of 2015.

* #58 (V/A) – Exile: Songs and Tales or Irish Australia by Various Artists is a 21 track compilation of songs performed by such local acts as Shane Howard, Paul Kelly, Pauline Scanlon and Leah Flanagan.

* #82 (LP#11) – American Utopia by David Byrne is the fifth albums chart entry here for the former Talking Heads lead singer, his last set to chart here was back in February 2009 when his album with Brian Eno entitled “Everything That Happens will Happen Today” reached No.66.

* #85 (LP#1) – Year of the Tiger by Myles Kennedy is the first solo album for the former Alter Bridge guitarist who has so far scored two No.2 albums as the lead singer with the Slash band Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators in 2012 and 2014.
